St Peter’s Boxted

Works on St Peters have been varied, Nicholas Jacob undertakes the quinquennial inspections, but we have also carried out reordering within the church, including installing new heating and lighting.  This included a new floor through the nave and aisles, with breathable floor construction finished with handmade clay pamments.  The pew platforms have been removed to allow adaptation of the church space for events and concerts, with the pews being movable.  The chancel interior has been redecorated, including the chancel.

Extending the church on the north side, has allowed the parish to provide a WC and team point as well as useful storage.  The concept was to provide a light weight building, which is constructed in a sustainable way with timber frame and breathable construction throughout.  The extension has allowed the parish to declutter the north aisle.

Further works have been carried out in the base of the tower to form a new vestry area and the staircase up to the organ gallery has been repaired and adapted to provide modern safe access.

Works continue with ongoing maintenance and repair informed by the Quinquennial Inspection.
