A Suffolk Barn Conversion

This conversion of a Suffolk Barn takes a modern approach, leaving the interior open with minimal disruption.  The west gable has all of the boarding removed and is completely glazed over the existing studwork, giving dramatic views from within the barn over the Suffolk landscape.  The approach to the interior has been to use traditional materials with modern applications. For example, stair and balcony details, combining limed oak with plate glass.

The exterior has been glazed with modern steel double glazed windows, with minimal sight lines.  The existing studwork has been retained behind the windows allowing the integrity of the barn structure to be enjoyed from inside and out.
